The majority of our patterns come in UK size 6-22. This corresponds to EU sizing 34-50 and US sizing 2-18. The individual patterns will give you the finished garment measurements, but please find below the body measurements. Please note that our patterns are drafted in centimetres as these measurements can be done more accurately.
BUST: your bust is measured at its widest point – around your back, under your armhole and across your nipples, without dipping in at the centre. If you turn to the side in a mirror, the measuring tape should look level.
WAIST: your waist can be measured in two different ways, depending on your body shape.
- Measure where your torso is at its smallest, just below your ribcage. If you bend your torso to the side, the waist is where you see the skin folding.
- Locate the very top of your hip bones by using your hands. Push inwards and you will feel the hip bones curving inwards. Where the bone stops, measure an inch above this for the waist.
HIPS: your hips are measured at its widest point (around your top thighs and your bum).
For plus size wearers, it can be helpful to take the waist and hip measurements standing up (for loose fitting, non-fitted or stretchy garments) as well as sitting down (for fitted, form-fitting, non-stretchy garments).
Our dressmaking pattern Rossetti has a slightly different size chart with sizing going to UK size 26 (EU size 54 and US size 22). See this specific size chart below (in cm):
